Howard Bruce "H.B." Alvord

4th generation Californian Howard Bruce "H.B." Alvord died at his home in Pebble Beach, CA. He was a Class of 1940 graduate of Lowell High School in San Francisco and graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1947. During World War II he served 3 ½ years in the US Army 78th Infantry Division and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Following graduation from Cal, HB worked in banking until being appointed Treasurer and Tax Collector of Sacramento County in 1967. In 1975 he was appointed to fill the same position in Los Angeles County until 1984, and then for 13 years he was a Mutual Fund Trustee for Citibank New York and for Brown Brothers Harriman. HB is survived by his wife, the former Jean Tracy of Sacramento, four daughters and four grandchildren. There will be a private family burial.
