Leandra Coturri

Leandra Allegrini Coturri peacefully passed away on 17th of January, 2013, at the age of 94.
Leandra was born on the 22nd of November, 1918 in San Macario in Piano, Lucca, Italy. She moved to San Francisco as a bride to Guido Coturri in 1950, who cherished her deeply until his death in 1979.
She was a talented seamstress who served many women in the San Francisco Marina district throughout her life. Leandra was known for her impeccable work and skill at creating one-of-a-kind fashions for her daughter and granddaughter. Leandra was also active with her son Sal's education and care at ARC, Louise Lombard, Lucinda Weeks, Janet Pomeroy Center and Community Gatepath.
Leandra treasured the time and celebrations she spent with her family and friends. In her younger years, she looked forward to socializing with friends at the Italian Catholic Federation, Branch 50 as well as many other Italian Clubs. She enjoyed cooking rustic Italian meals for her family and spending time in her garden, tending to vegetables and flowers. All that she did came from a place of tremendous passion and love.
She was the beloved mother of Violet Guerra and Salvatore Coturri. The loving mother-in-law of Bill Guerra. Leandra was the adored Nonnie of Lorraine (Nicolas) Gauvin and Phillip Guerra. She was the precious Bis-Nonnie of Lydia and Sebastien Gauvin. Leandra was preceded in death by six of her siblings in Italy. She is survived by her sister, Maria Allegrini Cassotti and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary and celebration of her life will be held at Crosby N. Gray, Burlingame at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 22, 2013. A mass will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Burlingame, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
Thank you to wonderful Caregivers and to Mrs. Cimino at Burlingame Villa and to Hospice for the tremendous care you provided Leandra (Mama Mia) in her final years.
Mom and Nonnie, you will be greatly missed and your joyful spirit will forever remain with us.
