Maria Ofelia Davalos
April 2, 1923-November 15, 2012
To the end, she fought to live. Her life brought challenges which she met with an unwavering belief in her heritage, faith in God and unbounded ability to love. She embraced her adopted country, was a proud San Franciscan and established friendships with persons from diverse countries. Her youngest son preceded her in death, but introduced her to the Democratic process in San Francisco. She actively participated in frank political discussions. Her sincerity and honesty fostered lasting friendships with members of the SF political establishment. She never forgot the stimulating meetings and missed her friends. She met adversity with tenacity and a will to overcome. Her love for her family and adopted country exemplified who she was¿a woman who believed her children were the most important thing in her life. She gave unconditional love to her husband of 64 years (Alberto M. Davalos), sons (Dr. Albert R. Davalos and Mark A. Davalos) and her daughter-in-law (Dr. Rhonda Hansen). While her loss saddens us and we miss her blessings, we celebrate her life. She sometimes regretted not pursuing a career but her career was providing love to all. She touched countless people. We say goodbye to our mother, wife and friend who made our lives happier and remains with us in spirit. Services held on Monday (11/19 at 2pm) at the Neptune Columbarium, 1 Loraine CRT, SF. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Coming Home Hospice, Att: R. L. Nasca, 115 Diamond St., SF, 94114.
