Michael Edward Porcella

Michael Edward Porcella Born Aug. 22, 1972 - Died April 10, 2009 Michael was born in Santa Fe, NM to long-time Bay Area residents Edward Porcella and Karen Thorland Porcella. He, his parents and sister, Julie, moved to Oakland in 1978. Michael attended St. Lawrence O'Toole Elementary School and Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland. He graduated from St. Mary's College in Moraga in 1995 and received his juris doctor from Golden Gate University in 2005. Michael interned in local prosecutor's offices while in law school and practiced criminal defense out of Oakland since becoming a member of the State Bar of California. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Edward and Karen Porcella of Walnut Creek; his sister Julie; brother-in-law Alain; nephews Nicolas and Michael Rolland of Quincy-sous-Senart, France. He also leaves behind uncles and aunts John (Irene) Thorland, Charlotte Sagouspe, Diane Porcella, Alan (Hilda) Porcella, Ronald (Georgia) Porcella, Jean (Richard) Molzner, Geraldine (Henry) Linek, Glen Porcella, many cousins and countless friends. Mike has touched so many people's lives in so many ways. Mike was a friend to many and unforgettable to all. Religious services will be held at the Church of St. Leo the Great, 176 Ridgeway Ave., Oakland at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009. A celebration of Mike's life to follow at La Taza de Café, 3909 Grand Avenue, Oakland at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary's College, Integral Program, Box 4300, Moraga, CA 94575.
