Nicolas Syromiatnikoff

Born in Harbin, Manchuria, China, May 6, 1930 and passed on July 27, 2013 at home with his family at his side. He fought a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and died from natural causes. Nick left Shanghai in 1949 before the Communist's arrival, for a two year stay on the island of Samar, Philippines. He arrived in San Francisco in June 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean war. After completion of his service, he met his beloved wife, Helen, and they were married April 28, 1957. They had 57 years of happily married life. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Alexis and Claudia, by his brother, Peter, and by his first born child Katherine. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Helen, his children, Eugenia Syro, and Andrew Syromiatnikoff. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter, Claire Maniti. He had a special affection for Twain Harte, CA. He was a member of American Legion Post #1 for 58 years.


Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, August 2nd, 2013, 10:00am at Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, Van Ness Ave. and Green Sts. S.F. In lieu of flowers, donations to preferred.
