Beloved husband, brother, father and Papou, the bedrock of his family, Peter Constantine passed away Saturday at age 88. Peter grew up in San Francisco's Richmond district and played basketball for George Washington High, where he was named All-City. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II
, flying with Torpedo Squadron 17 aboard the USS Hornet. He married Adele Jeanne Haubold in 1947 and celebrated 66 happy anniversaries together. What Pete did was made to last. He co-founded Alpha Stores based in Cole Valley, San Francisco, and ran the business for more than 40 years. He built homes in Millbrae and Discovery Bay. In retirement he was a charter member of SIRS Branch 161. He belonged to American Legion Post 202 and G. O. L. F., the Greek Orthodox Lynx Fellowship. Pete was a true-blue golfer and sports fan. He was classy and fun-loving, accomplished yet humble. Peter was something special, and he is deeply missed.
Recently pre-deceased by son Bradley, Peter is survived by wife Adele, sister Calliope, daughter Carol Anne Bezanson, son Craig, and grandsons Dominic, Cole, Nick and Chris.
Visitation is on Thursday, July 10th, at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 1st Street, Brentwood CA 94513, 4:00 to 7:00PM. The funeral is 1:00 PM Friday at Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland. The private burial will be at Skyline Memorial Park in San Mateo.
