Dick Aulwurm went to be with the Lord, September 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived his children, Jonathan Aulwurm (Boni), David Aulwurm (Karen), Susan Fuester (Tom) and Jeanne Laurin (Al); grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Elisabeth Aulwurm (Michael), Sarah Fuesler, Ashlyn Hamblet (Derek), Zackary Dunne and Brenton Hamblet. Dick was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Ruth, and his daughter Mary Dunne. Dick was born in Stockton, graduated from UC Berkeley, and then went on to earn his M.D. degree at UCSF. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following his service he moved his young family to Millbrae, where he practiced family medicine for 35 years. Once retired, Dick served as a medical missionary in Kazakhstan and the Ivory Coast and volunteered as a physician with Samaritan House in San Mateo. He was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlingame for 55 years, serving in many leadership positions throughout those years. In his later years, Dick particularly enjoyed Bible study groups, reading, spending time with his family, and walking down Broadway where he would see many familiar faces. Dick's faith was of the utmost importance to him, and he shared that with his family and others he met, touching many lives and encouraging others for Christ. Dick will be greatly missed by his family, friends and many patients he cared for during his career. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 El Camino Real in Burlingame. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a .
