Scott Bleaken

Scott Bleaken

Our dear friend and colleague, Scott Bleaken, passed away suddenly in his San Rafael home on February 14th, 2014.

Scott was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 18, 1953 to Edward and Constance Bleaken. He spent his childhood in Clifton, NJ, graduating from Clifton High School in 1971. Scott went on to graduate with honors from the Julliard School in 1976. He first came to the Bay Area in 1984 as the drummer on a national tour with the Broadway show Tap Dance Kid. He made so many friends with local players in the orchestra, that he decided to move his life to the West Coast.  Scott was a member of the Musician's Union, Local 6, the Marin Symphony, and part of the talented percussion community we have in the Bay Area. Besides being a consummate musician who enjoyed many styles of music, Scott loved good conversation and all things Hawaii. He was a passionate scuba diver, snorkeler and gardener.  He is survived by his mother, Constance C. Bleaken, sister, Cynthia Polzer, brother, Jeffrey Bleaken, nieces and nephews- Erin, Katie, Sarah, Andrew, Brigid, Ryan. Great nieces and nephews- Olivia and Hudson. Our buddy, Scooter, will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Scott's memory to
