Not sure what to say?

Dear Joan,
Unfortunately, I just learned of your mother's passing and wanted you to know that I have very fond memories of her! Not only was she a wonderful inspiration to young people at Lowell, but to fledgling teachers as I was in the 1960's. Mrs. Catelli made me feel secure and confident in my abilities as an educator. She had a warm and radiant smile which always assured me of her sincerity. My very best wishes to you.

Dear Joan,
Please accept my condolences and sympathy at the passing of your Mother. As an "old" time volunteer at Lowell's VICCI center (and I'm still there most Friday mornings) I treasure the thoughtful notes and kind words of encouragement you showed me and all volunteers.
I'd love to see you again.
Sincerely,
Darlene Shadel

Dear Joan and Edie: I read with sadness of the death of your mother, Elena. She was a great lady and a great friend to my late husband, Jim, me, and our family. How wonderful that she was with you for such a long life.
With prayers and love,

Joan,
I had no idea you were marching in your mother's footsteps as a beloved teacher and counselor at Lowell! I read your words with sadness this morning, but was also heartened by the description of the long, fruitful and beautiful life that she led.
Please accept deepest condolences from all the Rosenheims.
With love,
Cindy

I graduated from Lowell (class of 1953), but did not have Elena (I took French). Then I returned to Lowell as a teacher (Chem / Math) in 1958. She was such a sweet person - everyone liked her. After she retired and as Science Dept Head, I worked with Joanie Catelli - who was also a great Counselor and an expert on college admissions. Lowell was so lucky to have both of the Catellis as teachers/counselors.

Outstanding lady. I will always remember her kindness to me when I was a beginning teacher at Lowell and throughout my carrer. We were both members of the Leonardo da Vinci Society. She is certainly in Heaven now.

Super Lady, Super Teacher. I was not her best Spanish student, but I used what she taught me to go into the latino community to teach fire and earthquake safety as a member of the SFFD. God bless and Thank you. Tom Nyhan, Lowell Class of 1956
