Sin Dea Obituary

Sin Gin Dea 1918 - 2010 Passed away at home peacefully in San Francisco on November 27th. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William S.N. (Bill) Dea in 1989 and her son Frank M.Y. Dea in 1991. She is survived by 3 children: William M.J. (Bill), Ginnie and Dennis. Three daughters-in-laws: Patricia (Pat), Diana (DeeDee) and Susan (Susie). Six grandchildren: Kimberly, husband Bennett Yee, Michael Dea, wife Xenia, Christopher Dea, wife Angie, Stephanie, husband Desmond Sjauwfoekloy, Brian Dea and Katie Dea. Six great grandchildren: Ryan and Justin Yee, Zoey and Michael Dea, Isabella and Emma Dea and many nieces and nephews. Sin Gin Dea was born in a village in the Hoiping area of China in 1918. She graduated from the 6th grade from the Siu Hoi school. At that time in China, she was considered very well educated for a woman. She became a school teacher and married William S.N. Dea in 1937. She came to the United States in 1951 traveling 3rd class, aboard the SS President Cleveland. She settled in San Francisco and worked as a seamstress. Going to school at night to learn English and studying American History, she became an American Citizen in 1957. She went on to own her own business in 1962, until her retirement. Services are scheduled for Friday, December 10 at 11AM at the Green Street Mortuary at 649 Green Street near Columbus Avenue. Interment to follow at Chinese Cemetery, 4650 Callan Blvd, Daly City. Donations in her name to Chinese Hospital are requested in lieu of flowers.
