Ruth Gok

Ruth Wong Gok Mar. 15, 1917~Sept. 20, 2010 Ruth W. Gok died peacefully in her sleep last Monday morning. She was 93. Under the wonderful care of the staff at The Avenue and Sutter VNA & Hospice she died in accordance with her wishes: quietly, comfortably and quickly. Born in San Francisco, she was the youngest daughter of the late Wong Leong Shee and Wong Sim Chong. She was also pre-deceased by her older brother, Richard Wong, MD, her older sister, Lilly Sun, her husband, Harry and her son, Lester. She is survived by three of her children: Lynn, Roger and Cindy (and Brian Wong, MD), her two grandsons, Evan and Will and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 25 at HALSTED N. GRAY-CAREW & ENGLISH, 1123 Sutter St. in San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be sent to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1625 Van Ness Ave, SF, CA 94109 or to Hospice of Seattle 425 Pontius Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.
