Richard Rafael

Richard V. Rafael Age 87, born April 19, 1922, passed away at home January 21, 2010 after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. A graduate of San Francisco State University and Berkeley, employed for many years by the San Francisco Public Library. A passionate believer in the power of knowledge, an advocate for human rights, and a creative artist, Richard was an active member of the Anti-Defamation League and B'nai Brith and Editor for many years of the Golden Gater. Devoted to his loving wife, Ruth, and beloved father of Barbara Yates and Brenda Derin, son-in-law, Lee Derin, grandchildren, Adelida, Jeanette and Jacob and great-grandchildren, Frederico, Trent, Shane, and Kyryn. Memorial services to be held on January 25, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Sinai Memorial Chapel, 1501 Divisadero Street, San Francisco, CA. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
