Barbara Johnson Obituary

Barbara (Joyce) Johnson A native San Franciscan, passed away on September 23, 2010 at the age of 64. Barbara is now reunited with her loving husband, Gene Johnson and her parents, Dudley and Margaret Joyce who preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Mary Joyce and Nora Coussinat, nephew Jean Marc, niece Colleen and great nephews, Jean Dara and Joshua Coussinat along with many cousins both here and in Ireland. Barbara grew up in the Noe Valley and was an alumnae of St. Paul's Grammar and High School. She started her career as a hair dresser and was then employed by Pacific Bell and later Chevron Corporation where she worked for 25 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music and got great enjoyment from her beloved cats. Throughout her life she relied upon her faith during difficult times. She was generous not only to her family but to many charitable organizations. The family would like to thank the staff at Damenik's Home, So. San Francisco for their loving and supportive care during her stay there. In addition, we wish to acknowledge the Fourth Floor nursing staff at Kaiser South San Francisco for their sensitive care, making her final days comfortable. Visitation at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City will take place on Monday, September 27th from 4-9pm with a prayer service starting at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 28th at 10:30am at St. Paul's Church, Church and Valley Sts, San Francisco. Committal services will be held immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to the St. Paul's Preservation Fund, 221 Valley St, San Francisco; to St. Dominic's Catholic Church in honor of St. Jude, 2390 Bush St, San Francisco, or the charity of your choice.
