Gale Bologna Obituary

Gale Louise Bologna Born November 15th 1945, died after complications due to brain surgery on December 7th 2010. Gale was a beautiful, energetic, and brilliant woman. She was born in San Francisco to Grace and the late Bob Stevens (Hall of Fame sportswriter for the San Francisco Chronicle). Gale is the sister of the late Shirley Horton whom she loved dearly. Gale graduated from Capuchino High School in 1963. During her high school years, she met and fell in love with Salvatore Bologna a graduate of Balboa High School. They were married in 1965 at Saints Peter and Paul church in San Francisco. Sal and Gale were married for over 45 years and raised two children, Lisa and Steven. An excellent mother, Gale remained a homemaker for numerous years, before going to work for Net Equity Associates. During her mid 50's, she passed the Series 7 Exam, an accomplishment that she was extremely proud of. Gale was an avid reader but spending time with her family was her most important activity. You always knew when Gale was around because her laugh was not only contagious but incomparable. Gale is survived by her adoring mother Grace Stevens, loving husband Salvatore Bologna, her beloved children Steven Bologna and Lisa Gonsalves, devoted son in-law Keith Gonsalves, loving niece, Laura Walkup, and sons Christopher and Andrew Walkup, and her grandchildren Sarah and Allison Gonsalves who were her pride and joy. Visitation will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary (Tuesday, December 14th) from 4-7 PM followed by a Vigil Service at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine Church 1310 Bayswater Ave. Burlingame (Wednesday, December 15th) at 10:30 am. Committal Skylawn Memorial Park, Highway 92 (San Mateo/ Halfmoonbay).

When I was growing up in my family as a young man, I can remember that when ever I saw Gale and Sal walk in our house or any other family function I admired them, to me they were the perfect couple, they were a young, beautiful and vibrant pair!

Gale always treated my mother and father with the upmost respect, even thou she could not speak sicilian she somehow found a way to communicate her love for them, and that will always stay in my heart.

We will miss her beautiful soul and wonderful laughter.

Our prayers are with you. God bless you Sal, Lisa and Steven.

I was Gale's home health aide for a year and half . We had many laughs together. I always looked forward to my visits with Gale. I miss her so much already and she will always hold a very special place in my heart for her. She fought her cancer very courageously and with a great sense of humor.
