Marie Poggio

Marie Helen Poggio Sept. 1, 1914 - Dec. 1, 2010 Passed away on December 1, 2010 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Charles; her parents, Eugenio and Carmella Embres; and her sister, Aida Petri. Marie is survived by her devoted sons, Gene (Pat Nowowieski) Poggio and Andy (Mamie) Poggio. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Maria and Tony Poggio and adored niece and nephews, Kathy Lynch, Ed Shaw, and Bill Petri. Her passion in life was her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed by all. Marie graduated from Commerce High School in San Francisco (class of 1930); was very active with the Italian Catholic Federation; loved to square dance, cook, garden, paint, and travel. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, December 5 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Rosary will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1 Elmwood Drive, Daly City. The Funeral Mass will follow the Rosary at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Foundation, 1710 Gilbreth Rd., Burlingame, CA 94010 in memory of Marie Poggio.
