Amelda Fuller Obituary

Amelda (Mel) (Brophy) Fuller Born in San Francisco on January 15, 1921, a proud 4th generation San Franciscan passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2010 at the age of 89. Wife of the late Ernest (Ernie) M. Fuller, sister of the late Madeline E. Soeth, aunt of John J. Soeth, George Soeth, and Elizabeth J. Soeth-Nelson, grand aunt of five and great grand aunt of one. A retired federal employee with 32 years of service, and a graduate of Star of the Sea Academy. A member of NARFE, Chapter 50 San Jose; Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1051, American Legion Post 0190, Ladies of the Moose, 1051, and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mel loved to bake and was happiest in her kitchen making cookies and baked goods for everyone she knew. Once she knew your favorite dessert it would be proudly served to you from that point on. She baked cookies and sweets for the Veterans Home, VFW, Moose lodge, American Legion, Catholic Church, Friends, Family, and all whom she knew. In addition she baked cookies for our soldiers overseas for many years. Nothing made her happier than seeing the smiling faces of those she loved so dearly enjoying her creations. She was a proud little Irish lady who always held a special place in her heart for her beloved City by the Bay. Incredibly proud of her heritage and ancestry she grew up singing Irish songs with her family. She spoke often of many of her ancestors including her grand-father John Henry Brophy who was a Battalion Chief in the 1906 fire, along with her grandfather Michael Lyons who also helped to save San Francisco. Her remarkable memory and sharp mind help to preserve the family history and genealogy for years to come. Although she could never have children of her own she was always thought of as a mother and a grandmother to those who knew her best. Teaching her niece Elizabeth to bake at a very young age, her blackberry turnovers from the Russian River will never be forgotten. . . She lived a long and loving life touching the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Service for Mrs. Fuller is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 505 East North St, Manteca, followed by graveside service at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Rd, Escalon. Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life in Mel's honor at the Camellia Gardens Clubhouse, East Yosemite Avenue, Manteca at 2:00 pm after the graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. An online Tribute Wall is available for special messages and condolences at www.plfryandson.com.
