Ruth is survived by her daughter, Clare Malnik Enseat, her son, Steve Malnik, her grandchildren, Armando and Celina Enseat and Mario Malnik, many loving nieces and nephews and her devoted companion in her later years, Don Orton. Ruth will be remembered by her extended family and friends for her kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, love of music, prose and anything theatrical as well as her great spirit for life. Those who were fortunate to know Ruth were touched by her warm affection, love and genuine regard for others. Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Castro Valley. Ruth always knew the most interesting places to see and/or stay for a night somewhere along the coast. Or an arboretum or the Golden Gate Bridge or some restaurant. It was always a joy to visit with her she was so much fun to be with. And she taught me the 5 letter word game!!

I remember we were visiting one time and Ruth had a watermelon that she cut into a basket with a handle and everything and then filled it with fruit and Cointreau. It was pretty and delicious!!

The 5 letter word game was a favorite of mine. Ruth introduced it to me when I visited years ago. (Of course she always won, she was an English teacher.) Every time I think of Ruth I remember the game and I've enjoyed it with my family as well. Ruth was such a wonderful person, she made you feel welcome and loved. Our sincere sympathies.
