Anka Ohman Obituary

Anka (Perisich) Ohman passed away on January 15 at home in Los Altos. She was born in Oakland and continued her early childhood and adult years in San Francisco. Able to speak and understand only the Serbian language of her parents, Anka went on to receive a bachelor degree in Business Administration/Speech and a master degree in Education at UC Berkeley. She was a Phi Beta Kappa member and valedictorian at her baccalaureate commencement. A master educator and mentor to others who became master educators, she taught at Watsonville High School and at City College of San Francisco, where she met her husband. Upon retirement, she directed her efforts to Friends of the Library at City College. She was greatly admired by her many friends and colleagues. Her smiling green eyes will always be remembered. She is survived by her husband, Chuck, and daughter, Melissa. To honor her request, there will be no memorial service, but friends may celebrate her life by remembering the good times they shared with her. Memorial gifts may be made to Friends of the Library, City College of San Francisco.

Iam so sorry to hear of Anka's passing. She was such a delight to be with. She had a wonderful smile and we used to laugh and joke when we walked from one class to another, particularly from Cloud to Batmale. I missed her when she retired and feel we have lost a wonderful friend. To Chuck and Melissa, Anka's colleague Rosalie Wolf ([email protected])
