EDWARD MIFSUD Obituary

Edward G. Mifsud April 4, 1937 - May 1, 2012 Edward passed away peacefully in Tracy, California on May 1, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna. Loving father of Denise Rebeiro (Robert) of Tracy, Celeste Koster (Bill) of Tracy, Veronica Sillivan (Guy) of Tracy, Timothy Mifsud (Tracy) of Tracy, Marie Mifsud of Manteca, and Nichole Mifsud of Manteca. "Nunu" will also be deeply missed by his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Jenny Flood of San Bruno, Carmela Mifsud of Millbrae, Lucy Romer (Joe) of San Mateo, Rita Sinclair of San Bruno, Maryann Mifsud of San Mateo, and his brother George Mifsud (Joan) of Linden. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo and Mary Mifsud; and his brother, Joseph Mifsud. Edward was born and raised in San Francisco, where he met and married the love of his life Donna. They later moved their family of six children to Tracy in 1977, where they enjoyed a spirited home filled with love, laughter, good food, and a very strong sense of family; where there was always a tight bond of togetherness. That bond is a testament of how valuable and important family was to Edward, making it his most precious commodity in life. Once "Nunu's" grandchildren came into the world, he enjoyed his ability to return to his youth as one of the greatest playmates a child could ever have. He spent many hours teaching them, as he worked on projects making and building things for them. Edward always loved animals, he especially loved raising livestock while farming and ranching in his earlier years. He passed that love onto his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in knowing they shared the same interests and passion for agriculture as he had. Edward was also very devoted to his Catholic faith. He was extremely dedicated to praying the rosary, as he made it priority in his daily life. He also enjoyed his membership to the Knights of Columbus where he and Donna later became members of the St. Joseph's Parish of Elk Grove; after their move there in 1998. Edward took great pleasure spending time with his brother Joseph, as they spent many hours together serving others, becoming great stewards of volunteerism in the parish. Edward will be dearly missed by all of his family, and friends. All are invited to attend the Rosary, recited on May 9, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Bernard's Catholic, Church, at 163 W. Eaton Avenue, Tracy. A Funeral Mass will be held on May 10, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Interment at Holly Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd, Colma, on May 11, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service Turlock, CA. www.whitehurstnortondiasfuneral.com
