I just had Mr.Mayer pop in my head and I decided to google search him. He was my teacher in Pacifica and Fairmont Elementary and then at Pacific Heights middle school. He was the best teacher I ever had and the first positive male role model also. We had so much fun when he would pitch for us out on the playground and tell us stories of pitching for the Chicago Cubs. RIP Mr. Mayer. You were a great man and I´m sure you are missed by many.

Sorry, I am a little late. Just saw this. I remember Eddie when I was a young 12 year old pitcher at Funston Park in San Francisco, 51 years ago. He worked with me on my pitching follow through. That was pretty cool for a 12 year old boy to get pitching tips from a ex-Major Leaguer. My belated condolences to Eddie's family

Mr.Mayer was, by far, my favorite teacher. He made learning fun! I still remember how to play Proud Mary on a song flute because of him, and I clearly recall his voice, even after 35 years. I regret not bring able to tell him how much he changed my life, how often he crosses my mind. My condolences to his family he was very much loved.

Ed was a truly loving, caring and warm person who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. We always enjoyed spending time with him and delighted in his curiosity, intelligence and humor. Losing him has created a giant hole that cannot ever be filled. We send our love and condolences to Younga and Ed's families. Rest in peace Ed.
