Long time Albany resident, Ellen Hanson was born in Springfield Illinois and moved to the SF Bay Area in her early 20's where she met her husband and love of her life. She held several different secretarial jobs as a young woman, initially for the State of Illinois, and later in life for ETS in Berkeley. Ellen was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Gordon Hanson. She is survived by her children Kris Wiley (Lincoln), Steve Hanson (Liz), Katie Hamm (Steve), Claire Peterson (Ken), grandchildren Annie and Rachel Wiley, Mike, Cale and Cody Hamm, Kathryn and Matthew Peterson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life Ellen maintained a great love of reading, a wonderful sense of humor and quite a lot of spunk. She will be missed greatly by her family and loved ones. Private services will be held at a later time and the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society
