George T. Blackman

George T. Blackman of Pt. Richmond, California died unexpectedly on 9/10/2013 at the age of 68.


George was born in Oakridge, Tennessee November 18, 1944. He was the son of the late Oscar Blackman and Patricia (Nellett) Rudden. He leaves his wife Judith (Anderson) Blackman, his step-daughter Jaedra McSweeney, her husband Chad McSweeney and grandchildren Kayleen and Patrick McSweeney. He is predeceased by his brother Nick Sancho and leaves his sister Nancy Philipp as well as several nieces and nephews in Arizona , and cousins in Niteroi, Brazil.


George graduated from St. John's University in New York. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a volunteer for the Peace Corp where he served in the Dominican Republic. He worked for Chrysler Financial for 20 years as a financial analyst. In 2001 he retired and began a new career working as an instructor for the Contra Costa County Office of Education.


George was an avid sailor and member of the Richmond Yacht Club for many years. When he wasn't out sailing on the Bay, he would be travelling throughout the United States, Europe and South America.


A Celebration of his Life will be held on October 17, 2013 at 11 AM at the Richmond Yacht Club in Pt.Richmond, California. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Richmond Yacht Club Foundation.
