Kenneth Paul Venturi

May 15, 1931 - May 17, 2013

Kenneth Paul Venturi passed away peacefully in Rancho Mirage, California on May 17, 2013 after his 82nd birthday. Born at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco to Fred and Ethyl Venturi, Ken became one of golf's most beloved legends, both on and off the course. His legacy is punctuated by a combination of extraordinary amateur and professional golfing career accomplishments, serving as the longest-running analyst in sports broadcasting history, his commitment to a multitude of charitable causes both domestically and abroad, and his unending passion for giving back to the game of golf, as his mentor, Byron Nelson, always encouraged him to do. In the final chapter of his life, Ken was recognized by his many friends and peers by being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in the Lifetime Achievement category, which meant the world to him and provided closure to one of golf's true ambassadors. Ken is survived by his wife Kathleen of 10 years, his two sons, Matthew and Timothy, and four grandchildren, Peter Venturi (Victoria), Andrew Venturi, Sara Venturi and Gianna Venturi. Ken was preceded in death by his late wife, Beau Venturi, of 27 years.

Funeral services will be held at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m., located at 47535 Highway 74, Palm Desert, CA 92260; Phone (760) 346-2697.
