Alfred Bousquet Jr.

Alfred Bousquet, Jr. 70, of Fairfax, California passed peacefully in his sleep on October 15, 2010. Al grew up in the Sunset district of San Francisco, attending Parkside Elementary and Aptos Jr. High. Always talented in sports, he played baseball from about age 10 and Pop Warner football. Al went to Washington High with his 2 best friends, mostly to play football there, getting All-City honors his Sr. year in football and baseball. He graduated from the University of Iowa where he lettered in baseball, then went on to a career as an Air Force Officer, after marrying high school sweetheart Pamela Sorgatz in 1960. After a stint in Vietnam, the family enjoyed 4 years in Germany and were then stationed in Ohio, where he earned a Master's Degree in counseling. After getting out of the Air Force, Al worked in youth parole and later as an adult parole officer after they returned home to California. Always an avid sports fan, he spent many years coaching his equally-talented sons, Ken and Matthew, in soccer and baseball. He enjoyed his retirement time playing golf and traveling. He was extremely proud of his sons Ken, an artist and award-winning magazine art director, and Matthew, chef-owner of 2 restaurants in Windsor, Bistro M and the Michelin-starred Mirepoix. Grandchildren Cassandra, Sebastian and Eleanor, were the little stars in his sky, and he always lit up in their presence. A kind, gentle, loving man of dry wit, more than a little irreverence and exemplary character, he is deeply missed by family and friends. He is survived by Pamela Bousquet of Sausalito, their sons Ken Bousquet and wife Jennifer of Brisbane and Matthew Bousquet and wife Bryan of Windsor, grandchildren Cassandra, Sebastian and Eleanor, and his brother Gene and wife Margie of Novato.
