Alice Guardado Obituary

Alice Guardado 93, died from aspiration pneumonia on October 30, 2010 at Sunvill Board and Care, South San Francisco, CA. Born December 22, 1916 in San Miguel, El Salvador to Nicolasa Guardado and Maximiliano Carias, Alice was the eldest sibling. Alice came to the U.S. in 1943, became a citizen and worked for Schlage Lock Co. for 45 years. Alice held membership in the International Association of Machinists for 50 consecutive years, earning her life membership. Alice was a beacon to her extensive family and friends opening her home to anyone in need. A deeply religious person, Alice attended mass everyday and served as Secretary to the Sodality of the Church of the Epiphany in San Francisco, her parish since 1947. Alice is survived by her nieces, Silvia Rojas, Dr. Linda McAlister, Juliana Link, Gloria Haggard and Evelyn Guardado; her nephews, Miguel Guardado, Al Casciato, Oscar Bazurto and Jose Casciato; dear friends Emily Davidson, Tanchito Garcia, Margo Medrano and Angela de Rivera. Alice was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Dr. Juan Gregorio Guardado, San Salvador, E.S. and her sisters, Isabel Casciato, Theresa McAlister and Delia Bazurto. Alice's generosity continues as she donated her body to the University of California Medical School Willed Body Program. A memorial mass will be offered at St. John of God Catholic Church, 1290 5th Ave. SF on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 11:00 am.
