Ann Marie Murphy Entered into Eternal Life at home on September 10, 2010 in her native San Francisco. Ann Marie was born in her family's home on Clayton Street to Michael and Sadie McDonald and was the last surviving sibling of her six brothers and sisters, Emmett, Florence, Dolores, Val, Kevin and Myles. She was an alumnus of St. Agnes Grammar School, Star of the Sea High School and Lone Mountain College. She met Christopher Murphy from Limerick Co. Ireland at a KRB dance and they married in 1956 at St. Gabriel Church. They settled in the Sunset district and raised their six children until her husband's death in 1991. Ann Marie was the loving wife of the late Christopher E. Murphy and devoted mother of John, Michael and the late Thomas, Christopher, Ann Marie and Joseph. Proud Maimeo to Christopher, John Joe, Katlyn, Jacalyn, Nicholas, Julia and Lauren. Also survived by daughters-in-law Mary and Joanne and many other loving relatives and friends. She was a teacher with the SF Unified School District and taught for 32 years at Visitacion Valley Elementary School on Schwerin Street. A woman of faith, patience, endurance and grace, she faced head on the heavy onslaughts that nature threw against her and she stood up with courage and hope and without complaint. Friends may visit on Wednesday, September 15th after 6:00 pm and are invited to attend a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 am. Miss Murphy was my 3rd grade teacher. She was one of the best teachers I ever had. She taught me to always be aware of current events. Which is what I still do to this day and taught my children to do. She was a wonderful person and felt bond to say something. She's resting right now and we will see her again soon. Love you much Miss Murphy. Until we meet again.

I thank God for even the brief year or so I got to know Ann Marie. The strength of her faith helped to deepen mine. With remarkable grace she bore a disproportionate share of suffering in the course of her life; may it please God to grant her the fullness of joy in the Kingdom.
