Archie Wenceslaus Marshik was born in Okeene, OK on November 20, 1918 and passed away on june 19th in Palo Alto, CA. Archie's bigger-than-life life encompassed a wonderful 64 year marriage to Margaret, a NCAA Basketball Championship, military service, and success as a parent, friend and educator.
At the age of eight, Archie and his family moved to Oregon. While at St. Mary's High School, Archie led the basketball team to the State Catholic Championship. Recruited by the University of Oregon, Archie was a freshman member of the 1939 NCAA National Championship Team. Upon graduation, he attended the Navy Officers Candidate School and served as a Gunnery Officer on the Cruiser St. Louis. By the end of WWII he held dual commissions: Navy Lieutenant and Marine Corps Captain and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Archie and Margaret married on February 4, 1946 and ultimately settled in Burlingame, CA around 1961. Archie pursued his teaching career in the business department at Capuchino High School in San Bruno, CA.
Both his sister Alma and wife Margaret predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Frank, his daughter Gail and her husband Rick, grandchildren Geoff and Robyn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1pm on July 8, 2013 at the Neptune Society, 1645 El Camino Real, Belmont, CA.
