Arlen Lloyd Kennedy Arlen Kennedy passed away at home on December 2, 2012. He is survived by his wife Helen Kennedy, daughter Lianne Kennedy-Boudali, son-in-law Hajib Boudali, granddaughter Raja Boudali, and several cousins. Arlen was a gentle and thoughtful man, and we will miss him dearly.
The Guest Book is expired.
Arlen was born to Ernest Kennedy and Edna Shields Kennedy in Mankato, Minnesota in 1935. He moved to Oakland, California, with his parents in 1943, and he later graduated from Willits High School in 1953. Arlen attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he developed lifelong bonds with his brothers in the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. Arlen later completed additional graduate work at Stanford University, although he remained loyal to Cal (Go Bears!).
Arlen taught in the San Mateo Union High School District for over 30 years, primarily at Mills High School in Millbrae, where he taught American History and Social Science. He also served in the U.S. Army reserves. Arlen loved sports and played tennis for much of his life. He enjoyed traveling and spent many happy summers on the road camping with his family. Arlen loved music, particularly jazz, and he played both piano and accordion. In later years, he volunteered for the San Mateo County Historical Association as a docent at the San Mateo County History Museum.
The family suggests that donations in Arlen's memory may be made to the San Mateo County Historical Association, 2200 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063 or http://www.historysmc.org.
