Bereni Karasik Obituary
Bereni Karasik

Beloved wife of the late Monia Karasik, beloved mother of Eva Karasik, Gita Karasik (Lee Caplin), and Michael Karasik (Marlene), and adoring grandmother of Daniel Caplin, passed away peacefully in San Francisco on July 26, 2014, after 95 hale and hearty years.
A remarkable pianist who studied at The Julliard School and Curtis Institute of Music, Bereni was also the pianist for the Martha Graham Dance Co. She later entered Columbia University and then the University of California-Berkeley, where she earned her degree in psychology. Whether reading Tolstoy in Russian or teaching herself Italian, playing Handel or Mozart in the wee hours of the morning, laughing infectiously at the comedy of Milton Berle, teaching piano for decades to scores of students, or dusting the pianos while listening to Bach cantatas, Bereni will be missed and always remembered as a model of kindness, elegance and beauty.
No services are planned but a donation can be made to a favorite charity. Or pour a glass of cream sherry - mom's favorite - and drink a toast to her.
