Bok Pon Obituary

Bok F. Pon 67, San Francisco Community Leader Bok Foo Pon was a loving family man, an Californian advocate for republicans, veterans, and community causes, died Tuesday, July 21st from a longer than expected fight with liver cancer in San Francisco. He was 67. He had been in poor health for several years battling liver cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Pon was a member of the 82nd Airborne, life member of AMVETS, past Commander of the American Legion Cathay Post No. 384 and was the first Asian American to be elected to the California Republican Party, Executive Committee, where he served as the Northern Regional Chairman. Pon, a down-to-earth and compassionate man had dedicated his life to serving his family, his community, and his nation. Born in Canton, China, on September 28, 1941, Pon immigrated to the United States while in his early childhood, and attended the California State University of San Francisco. Bok Foo Pon is survived by his wife of 43 years Agnes; his sons Jigg and Jeff; daughters-in-law Marlina and Gillian; and grandchildren, Kestrel, Keaton, Cordelia, and Charlotte. Wake will be held at Green Street Mortuary, Sunday 3pm, August 2nd; Funeral Services on Monday 10am, August 3rd. In lieu of gifts and flowers, the family requests donations made to "American Legion Cathay Post 384" for: the Hepatitis B Fund or the Educational Scholarship Fund. 1524 Powell Street, San Francisco, CA 94133.
