Burton Berry |
Burton Berry, born in San Francisco on April 22, 1922 passed away on July 18, 2013 after 91 rich and beautiful years.
After Galileo High School, Burt graduated from Stanford University in 1942 and then served in the Army Air Corp as a co-pilot. He married Joan in 1944 and three years later purchased his parent's home in Pacific Heights where the family resided for 58 years.
In 1969 Burt started DAL Investment Co., a No-Load Mutual Fund advisory business which led to the creation of FundX, still one of the top mutual fund database newsletters. Both still thrive today. His business became his passion and he continued to go to the office almost daily even after selling the business.
He was a member of the San Francisco Rotary Club and a huge supporter of Alliance For Smiles, a surgery program which sends medical professionals on missions to third world countries to repair Cleft Lips and Palates.
He spent his weekends bike riding and playing tennis.
Survived by Joan, his devoted wife of 68 years, and children Douglas Berry and Linda Berry Stewart; grandfather of Alex and Michael Berry and Jeffrey and Gregory Stewart; great-grandfather of 7.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Burt's life at the California Tennis Club on August 1, 2013 from 4-6 pm.
Donations in his memory would be appreciated and can be made to Alliance For Smiles, 2565 3rd St #237, San Francisco, CA 94107
