Carlo Michelotti Obituary

Carlo Michelotti Left this life as he lived it, with dignity, courage and grace. He died on September 22 at the age of 71 from metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. Michelotti became a pharmacist in 1961 and purchased the Forty-Nine Drug Company in Stockton in 1965. He served as the CEO of the California Pharmacists Association from 1997 to 2004 and was known as an advocate of the professional role of the pharmacist in serving the interests of patients. In addition, Michelotti was widely recognized as a resource in policy making throughout California and nationally throughout most of his professional career. Carlo's accomplishments were many including receiving the Alumnus of the Year Award by the UOP School of Pharmacy in 2001 and 2004, the Bowl of Hygeia Award for Community Service in 2004, and the Hugo H. Schaefer Award from APhA in 2005 as well as being presented the Key to the City of Stockton by Mayor Gary Podesto in 2004. Mr. Michelotti is survived by his wife of 51 years Sylvia, his son, Eric Michelotti and his daughter Alison Malloy, son-in-law Rick Garcia. His grandchildren include Devyn and Dylan Michelotti and Cydney Malloy. His sister Marlene Mariani preceded him in death. The family requests donations to your favorite charity in Carlo's name in lieu of flowers. A celebration of Carlo's life will be held at Brookside Country Club, 3603 St Andrews Dr. in Stockton, CA on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11 a.m.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of Carlo. Working at the same department for years, we saw each other often. He was always pleasant and polite; he was the consummate gentleman.

I am sadden to hear of the passing of my good friend, Carlo Michelotti. He truly was a giant in the Profession of Pharmacy, a leader, mentor, executive and a "great boss". Our friendship goes back a long way and I'm sure we will all miss him greatly. My sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out to Sylvia, his wife, and their children, family and relatives. I know this is a difficult time for them even when we know the inevitable. I pray that you will find peace in this thought.

There are two dates that are determined by our Creator, the date we come into this world and the date we are to leave this world. The Dash between those dates is ours to fill as we so choose. Carlo filled his dash with hopes and dreams that he poured into the lives of all those that he came in contact with because he was a giver, an unselfish person.

I pray that he found peach with the Author and Finisher of our faith.
