Carolyn Bookspun Obituary

Carolyn Bookspun Carolyn died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, October 8, 2010. She was born on November 12, 1936 to Cora and Weldon Moore in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She grew up in Flint, Michigan, where she obtained an R.N. She later attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. She soon moved to California, where she attended U.C.Berkeley and received her MPH in Public Health, with honors. Carolyn died from complications of leukemia, which plagued her for 17 years. Yet she lived a full life, loved people, music, the ballet, and most of all her family. She was devoted to Arnie, her husband of over 40 years, her sons Jonathan and Michael, their wives Kay and Daisy, and her grandchildren Karen, Jacob, Charlie and Megan. She was one of the most loving and giving grandmothers imaginable. She also worked tirelessly and compassionately her entire career to better the lives of children with special needs and their families, most recently at Gatepath. A small memorial service will be held soon at Temple Beth El in San Mateo and a much larger Celebration of Life within a month or so. Please send any contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
