She left her childhood home in 1940, seeking adventure and travel. During her life she saw most major US cities and traveled the world extensively. At various times, this stunning blonde lived in Washington, DC, New York City and Guam. After WWII, she moved to Guam, where she was the editor and chief reporter for the island's daily newspaper. Edith finally settled in San Francisco, where she met the man of her dreams and her future husband on a double date in 1951. The Biloxi Belle and Tom were engaged on February 14th, Valentine's Day. Edith married Tom Lewis, the man she was meant to build her life with, on April 5, 1953 (Easter Sunday), in Carmel, CA. They enjoyed 57 loving years of marriage. To no one's surprise, Edith ultimately began a career as a travel agent, in an attempt to satisfy not only her own wanderlust, but also to assist others who had the desire to travel and explore the world. She worked in the travel business for 15 years, where she and Tom were able to take many fascinating and exciting trips to all corners of the globe.
