Edward Lawrence O'Toole Army Private First Class (PFC) Edward Lawrence O'Toole of San Francisco, California, missing in action from World War II, died November 20, 1944 in Sggerath, Germany as the result of enemy action. PFC O'Toole's remains were recovered February 2, 2010 in Sggerath and his eventual identification was made by the Joint Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Accounting Command. PFC O'Toole, a member of D Company, 333rd Infantry Regiment, 84th Division was killed in action when his unit engaged enemy forces in the Wrm Valley in western Germany in an attempt to capture the towns of Geilenkirchen, Sggerath, Mllendorf, and Wrm. He was followed in death by his parents, Coleman and Bridget (Coyne) O'Toole, and six siblings, Barbara J. O'Toole, Thomas F. O'Toole, Mary C. (O'Toole) Dunne, John J. O'Toole, Michael H. O'Toole, and Catherine B. (O'Toole) McDougall. PFC O'Toole has no known living relatives. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Friday, 15 July 10:00 a.m. at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, California.
