Egidio Antonio Bertoia Egidio "Bert" Antonio Bertoia passed away peacefully into God's arms on January 16, 2013. Born and raised in Burlingame to Bonaventura and Luigia Bertoia, who immigrated from Italy, Bert grew up with his dear brother Enrico Bertoia. Bert graduated from Burlingame High School and then continued his education at San Mateo Junior College. Bert was devoted to his job at Pan American Airways where he worked for over 40 years as a radio engineer. Bert was a lifetime parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena in Burlingame and a proud long time member of the Peninsula Italian American Social Club in San Mateo. He is survived by relatives in the USA, Italy, Canada and Brazil. Bert loved spectator sports and was especially fond of football and MotorSports of the open wheel variety. He was a member of the SCCA back in the 50's and 60's and traveled all over California to watch sports cars race. You could also count on him being at all the Stanford home games during football season as he was an avid fan. He was predeceased by his parents Bonaventura and Luigia Bertoia and his brother Enrico. A special thank you to his caregiver, Milika Finaulahi, Terry Anderlini and Patsy Spiers who helped make life more pleasant and enjoyable for Bert and his brother Enrico, before his passing last March.
