DE LEON Fausta Faye Mata De Leon, aged 89, died peacefully on January 17, 2013 in Fairfield, California. Faye was born April 27, 1923 in Bangar, La Union, Philippines.
Faye had the distinguished honor in being the only Filipino to be awarded a scholarship and training in specialized public education in Denver, Colorado in the 1950s.
Faye with her late husband, Dr. Mario De Leon and two daughters immigrated to California as professionals in 1968.
She continued her prestigious teaching career at the San Francisco Unified School District and was recognized for her dedication and service for 47 years when she retired in 1993.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lourmafe Celis and Christina Garcia, her five grandchildren Yasmine, Christopher, Christina II, Nicole and Rhodessa and three great grandchildren Hope, Faith and Grace.
A Visitation will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 325 Marine View Avenue in Belmont from 9am-12pm on Friday, January 25, 2013, with a Funeral Mass at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1100 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park. Friends may sign the guestbook at www.crippenflynn.com
