After serving in Vietnam and leaving the service with an Honorable Discharge on August 17, 1966, Gary went on to work for Pacific Bell, now known as AT&T and retired in 1991. Gary and Linda were married October, 1, 1970 in San Francisco and Gary became step-dad to Renee Altman, and welcomed the birth of their son Andrew Michael Anido on October 29, 1971 at San Francisco Children's Hospital and soon settled down with their family in South San Francisco, where they would live for another 30 years before moving to Lake County in 2001.
