Giuseppe Alicastro

Giuseppe Jose Alicastro Passed away peacefully after a brief hospital stay, Monday November 1, 2010. Beloved husband of Vanda of 56 years, devoted father of Annamarie, Anthony and Andrew, loving grandfather of Sofia, Josef and John, loving son-in-law of Dina Puccinelli, loving brother-in-law of Gloria Brown, loving father-in-law to Mark Ellington and Gabriela Rico Alicastro, and loving uncle to Michael Brown and Chris Brown. Jose was born in Rome, Italy in 1930 and came to the United States in 1948. After a few weeks in this country, he met the love of his life Vanda and they were wed in 1954 and recently celebrated 56 years together. Jose graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in civil engineering in 1955 and worked most of his career at Pacific Pipe Company until his retirement in 1997. In 1969 Jose and his family moved back to Rome where they spent the next eight years becoming a true Italian/American family. During this time Jose founded and was the President of Petrotec, Inc. doing business throughout the Middle East and Europe. Jose was a gracious, dignified man with a great sense of humor, and was a true gentleman to those who knew him. He spent his retirement years traveling the world with his wife and had the good fortune to visit all seven continents. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, going out for the evening to attend social and cultural events, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Jose was a member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury in 2000-2001 and was a member of the Marin Yacht Club since 2003. Recently Jose joined SIR, Sons in Retirement, China Camp Branch #151. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 20, at 11:30 a.m., at the Church of Saint Raphael, 1104 5th Avenue San Rafael, California 94901.
