Glenn Pollock Obituary

Glenn E. Pollock Jr. Oct 31, 1923 - Sept 12, 2010 He passed away peacefully in the company of family. During WWII Glenn served as part of the 101st Infantry Division & received the Purple Heart after being wounded in France. During the occupation in Austria he met & married his wife Paula Waldes. They settled in his hometown, St. Louis, MO. where he completed his MA degree in Botany at Washington University. In 1960 the family moved to Belmont, CA. In 1962 he started work as a research chemist at Ames Research/ NASA in the Extraterrestrial Dept. specializing in Life on Mars. He was honored to be chosen as one of 100 scientists to work on the moon rocks in 1969 after the first lunar landing. He enjoyed tennis, skiing & ice dancing. He treated everyone he met with unconditional courtesy, respect, kindness & generosity. He guided, nurtured, supported & protected his family with unrelenting fervor & dedication. He will be missed more than words can say & we are heartened that he gave us enough love & strength to last a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 yrs Paula & his son Jeffrey. He is survived by his sister Elinor Adreon & his children Sue Sutton, Jerry Pollock, Victoria Grasso & their families. A service celebrating his life will be held at Lifemark (Skylawn), San Mateo on Sept 24, 2010 at 11 AM.
