Helen Grimmett Obituary

Helen Grimmett 85, passed away on October 31, 2010 after a long battle with Emphysema. Helen was born and raised in Bridgeport, Alabama. She attended Bridgeport High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future Husband, George Grimmett Sr. After their marriage in 1942, George served in WWII, while Helen continued her education, graduating in 1943. After the war they moved to California, and resided first in San Bruno and then San Mateo, where they raised their 2 children. Helen enjoyed working for Railway Express and the County of San Mateo. After the death of her husband in 1983, Helen met the second love of her life, Merrill Christensen. They spent many years in retirement traveling, visiting with relatives and partying with friends. She loved her 3 grandkids and enjoyed taking them to plays, musicals, dance and swim lessons along with the enjoying them through endless hours of board games. Helen was preceded in death by her husband George Sr., Son George Jr., Parents, Bessie and James Loyd, Sisters Dorothy Randolph and Sara Austin. Helen is survived by Daughter Laurie, Son-in-law Robert, Grandchildren Matthew and Olivia of Foster City and Clarissa Grimmett of Weaver, Alabama. Laurie wishes to thank and appreciate Helens devoted friends for their many years of never-ending friendships, support and love for her Mom. No services are planned per Helen's request. A gathering for friends & family will be held this Sunday Nov. 7th; Plaza West Clubhouse, 35-55 W. 20th Ave, San Mateo from 3-5 PM. Donations may be made to the Sequoia Hospital Foundation or the American Lung Association.

It was an honor to have met and spent two visits with Helen when I visited her in San Mateo with her cousin Katye Tipton. May our Lord enjoy your wonderful company in heaven!
