Fr. Heribert Duquet was born in France on July 15, 1914 and died on February 18, 2013 in San Francisco. He was ordained a priest of the Paris Foreign Missions Society (MEP) on June 29,1939. From 1940-1945 he was a prisoner of war in Germany. From 1946 to1961 he was a missionary in Singapore. From 1961 to1963, he was in charge of the MEP house in Toronto, Canada. From 1963 to1966, he was in charge of the MEP House in San Francisco. From 1966 to1977, he was the Chief Financial Officer of the MEP Society in Paris. From 1977 to 1985, he was again put in charge of the MEP House in San Francisco. From 1977 - 2002, he acted as an assistant in St. Cecilia's parish in San Francisco, where he ministered mostly to the sick and elderly parishioners and celebrated the 6:30AM Mass daily. Finally in 2002 "Pere", as Father was affectionately called, retired permanently in St. Anne's Home where the Little Sisters of the Poor took exceptional care of him. His health deteriorated seriously Saturday, Feb. 16th and he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he passed away on Monday, Feb. 18th at 8:30PM. Fr. Duquet will be remembered in a special way for his priestly service to the sick and dying, the twinkle in his eyes and his deep love of the "Good Lord".

Clergy, family and friends may call Sunday after 3:30PM at St. Cecilia Church 17th Ave. and Vicente St., where the rosary service will be at 4:00PM. All are invited to the concelebrated funeral mass on Monday, February 25th at 10:00AM, also at St. Cecilia Church. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Parish Foreign Mission 930 Ashbury St. S.F. CA 94117 or to the Little Sisters of the Poor 300 Lake Street S.F. CA 94118.
