Howdy Brownson-song-leader, barbershopper, safety engineer, community volunteer and Cal alum extraordinaire has sung his last tune.


He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Kris Carey and Nancy DeRoche (Dave), Juanita Matsuoka, son Don (Becky), daughter-in-law Kevis; grandchildren Amy Brownson, Molly Cormier (Matt), Dan and Sally Brownson, Kyleen Carey, Derek and Dominick DeRoche, Ellie and Tommy Brownson, and great-granddaughter Donatella Donato.


Friends and family are invited to celebrate Howdy Brownson's life with song and stories on Sunday May 19, at 2:00pm at Grandview Pavilion, 300 Island Drive, Alameda.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Howdy and Mary Brownson Scholarship Fund at the Cal Alumni Association of UC Berkeley (CAA), c/o Joani Carpenter, Alumni House, UC Berkeley, Berkeley, CA 94720.
