Icek Mozes, beloved husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully of liver disease. He leaves behind his wife Pat, son Alex, daughter Jessica, sister Eva and brother Dave, plus in-laws, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Icek was born in Paris, the first born of Holocaust survivors Abram and Malka Mozes. The family immigrated to the US where Icek grew up on an egg farm in Frenchtown, New Jersey. He went to yeshiva in Brooklyn, then Delaware Valley Regional High School and Rutgers University, graduating in 1969 with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Engineering.
Icek moved to San Francisco in 1974 to join Pat Blackburn whom he met in Paris while travelling. They were married in 1977. Icek completed his MBA in 1978 and spent most of his career as an Executive at US Leasing Corporation. He also served on the Board of Beth Sholom and KlezCalifornia, a Yiddish culture organization he helped found. Through 20 years of retirement, Icek cared and supported his wife and children and was an exemplary care-giver for his parents who lived at Rhoda Goldman Plaza for 7 years. He loved to hang a hammock on camping trips, go for walks with old friends, and futz in the garage with a cigar and NPR. His sage advice and affectionate interrogation will be missed by all who knew him. Donations on his behalf can be made to http://www.klezcalifornia.org/gift.
