James Pett
Died peacefully in his sleep the morning of November 23rd after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy and his Son, Jason.
Born in 1934 to Edith and Elmer Pett in Michigan, Jim was a proud "Michigander" and attended The University of Michigan; but after 29 years of shoveling snow, he and his best friend packed up the car and moved to San Francisco in 1963. Once settled in The City, Jim began a 34 year career with Western Electric and then AT&T from which he retired. Jim was a huge fan of the outdoors and his love of camping led him to a trip to Sequoia National Park where he met the love of his life, Dorothy. Jim was a voracious reader and a great lover of trains and baseball; loves he happily shared with Dorothy and passed on to his son.
Jim was a nervous flier and he liked nothing more than packing the family in the car and traveling the country, or spending a quiet weekend in Sea Ranch, but late in life, he summoned the courage to become a world traveler making trips to England, Vienna, Italy, Israel and Turkey.
Services for Jim will be 2pm on Saturday, December 8 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 2515 Fillmore at Jackson in San Francisco. Jim spent many years in a variety of volunteer efforts at Calvary which touched many people. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to: The Calvary Church Deacons Benevolence Fund or the .
