Jana Lane Obituary
Jana Lane Jana Sue Crossley Lane died in Oakland on November 11, 2012, at age 75. Born in Erick, Oklahoma on October 30, 1937 to George Crossley and Ruby King Crossley, she graduated San Leandro High School in 1955, then attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a B.A. in History. She enrolled in the UCB graduate teaching program, where she met Kenneth Lane. They married on August 23, 1959 and settled in the Oakland Hills, where Jana taught at Skyline High School until retirement in 2004. Recently, Jana was active in Genesis, an organization seeking free public transportation for Oakland's students. Jana is survived by her husband Ken; her children Molly Lane Talamantes and Stephen Lane; granddaughters Emma and Sophie Talamantes; sister Jean Crossley; daughter-in-law Kristin Balder-Froid; son-in-law Tom Talamantes. Jana was preceded in death by her sister Roma Crossley Shaffer.
