Janet Dittoe Obituary

Janet Curran Dittoe May 23, 1920- - Dec. 5, 2010 After 90 years of living in her beloved San Francisco, Janet died peacefully at her home, and in the presence of family, on December 5, 2010. Born to Oneida and John Curran, Janet lived in the Forest Hill neighborhood of San Francisco for 83 years. After graduating from high school at the Katherine Delmar Burke School, she attended U.C. Berkeley from which she graduated in 1942. While at U.C. Berkeley, she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and served as its president her senior year. She then worked in advertising for six years before marrying and then rearing her three children. In later years, she worked as a tax accountant for Boothe Financial Corporation. For many years, she served on the alumni board for Pi Beta Phi sorority and as an active volunteer for Children's Hospital (now part of California Pacific Medical Center ("CPMC") in San Francisco, where she had given birth to her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William E. Dittoe, and her daughter, Susan Dittoe Jones. She is survived by her younger sister, Nancy Curran of San Francisco; her son William ("Bill") S. Dittoe of San Francisco; her son, John ("Jack") Dittoe and his wife Alanna of Piedmont, California; and the grand-daughter that she adored, Kirstin Dittoe of Hoboken, New Jersey. A small, private family service has been held. Any donations in Janet's memory should be made to the CPMC Foundation, P.O. Box 7999 S.F., CA 94120-7999 or to the charity of your choice.
