We are in Ashland, OR with friends from Piedmont, and I just learned of Jennie's death. A flood of memories filled my heart just as a flood of tears filled my eyes. She was such a unique, interesting, caring person. I smile when I think of her. My deepest condolence goes to you, Leslie, and your family. With loving thoughts, Ava and Downer Johnson

I remember her as an aid for my 8th grade support class. she was so sweet. she gave me candy, shared her stories, was a total rocking person. i remember her congratulating me after the 8th grade graduation ceremony, she's always had that signature big smile. i heard the news today and it made me sob. i still have the piece of string wrap from the bag of candy you gave me. i'll always remember how awsome of an aid you were, Jennie. i'll miss you..

Jennie's memory seems to define a certain time in our lives when our kids were young and innocent and we were too. We treasure those days of art classes, quilt making, walking dogs, going to a neighborhood school and peacefully enjoying life. We did not look too far ahead or worry very much. All we needed to appreciate our days was within our grasp. Jennie thank you for your smile and the softness you brought to us all. We somehow knew those days would be fleeting and thankfully our senses soaked up every moment. You and your family are in our hearts and memories forever.

My prayers for eventual peace and gentleness for each of you. I think of the Haydel family and think of only light and beautiful smiles, Jennie carried that legacy.
In sadness with and for you,

I witnessed personally Jennie's generosity, kindness, and empathy when she volunteered at Streetside Stories. We lost Jennie way too soon, and the world lost one of its lights.
