John Stewart Obituary

John "Jack" Stewart Jr. Dec. 11, 1913-Oct. 17, 2010 Jack passed away at Agis Assisted Living in South San Francisco, at the age of 96. He was a proud 3rd generation San Franciscan born in the family home on Norton St. in the Excelsior District. He was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate Verna and beloved daughter Jill (Randy) Mirkorvich. He is survived by sons John (Vicki) and Robert; grandchildren Nick, Jared, Rachel, and Hannah; sisters Geraldine Stayart and Jane Stewart and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack was a proud 45 year member of the teamsters, which his father was a founding member. His proudest accomplishment was his family. A quiet and gentle man, he led more by example than word. We will miss his dry sense of humor and his caring spirit. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Friday, October 22nd, 10:30am at Corpus Christi Church, Santa Rosa Ave. & Alemany Blvd., SF. Interment private. Donations to your favorite charity preferred.

John and Bob,
I have such great memories of growing up on Somerset Street. Your dad and mom were wonderful people and were always there for all of us. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

We knew Jack for a little while from giving Communion at Aegis. We always enjoyed our conversations with him, including his dry wit and sense of humor. He would always tell me to be nice to my husband! You will be missed, Jack!
