Leland Wong passed away peacefully on February 22, 2013. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Born in Stockton, California, he was the youngest of three siblings of Gim Woo Wong and Chuck Ying Fock. He spent most of his youth in San Francisco. He started his family in Berkeley and was a 51 year resident of El Cerrito. Leland is survived by Mary, his lifetime sweetheart, who he married in 1949, his five children, ten grandchildren, and his older brother. Leland served as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He spent most of his career as a painting contractor in the San Francisco bay area. Leland enjoyed fishing and shared that passion with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a Life member of the Wah Ying Social Club and volunteered for a variety of Chinatown organizations. He always looked forward to attending his Francisco Jr. High School Class of 1941 reunions to reminisce with his friends. Services will be private. If desired, donations may be made to the .
